Located at 349 Olde Ridenour Road in Gahanna, Ohio, Recreate Behavioral Health of Ohio offers a full continuum of care for substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and mental health conditions.

Our Facility in Gahanna, Ohio
The overdose crisis has hit central Ohio deeply, with Columbus being among the hardest-hit regions for fatal overdoses in the country. When a loved one is struggling, families shouldn’t have to choose between getting effective care and staying close to home.
So we asked ourselves: What would it look like to bring the same standard of care found at other Recreate Behavioral Health Network locations into central Ohio?
Recreate Ohio is our answer. Tucked in a tranquil neighborhood in Gahanna, our campus is designed around comfort and privacy:
- Comfortable client suites and residential rooms, furnished to feel like home
- Private and group therapy spaces set up for honest conversations
- Spacious living areas and a proper dining room
- A fitness center and game room for working through stress the healthy way
- Quiet, landscaped outdoor spaces for fresh air and reflection
It’s a real retreat away from daily stress and triggers. Because recovery asks a lot of a person, having a safe and quiet place to heal makes every step easier.
We Offer a Full Continuum of Care
Addiction affects everyone differently. Your recovery plan should be as individual as you are.
At Recreate Ohio, care typically begins with a supervised, medically assisted detox process designed to manage withdrawal symptoms safely and as comfortably as possible.
From there, many clients step down into residential treatment, where they live on-site and immerse themselves fully in structured programming, group therapy, and individualized therapy sessions.
Once a client is stable and ready for more independence, our team often recommends a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or one of our intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Both give clients the flexibility to rebuild daily routines while still receiving several hours of clinical support each week.
For those further along in recovery, standard outpatient services and ongoing participation in a 12 step program help maintain momentum after the initial treatment phase ends.
But how do these levels connect? Think of it less like a straight line and more like a staircase. Each step down in intensity is still a step forward. Nobody is rushed, and nobody is left without support. That’s the whole point of a true continuum of care.
We Treat The Whole Person
Substance abuse often overlaps with anxiety, depression, or past trauma. Someone experiencing depression may also struggle with alcohol misuse. Another individual may battle anxiety while misusing prescription medications or opioids. Clinicians call this dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorders.
Ignoring the mental health side leaves the door open for old habits to return. You can’t treat one and hope the other sorts itself out. That’s why we treat both at the same time, because that’s the only way to break the cycle for good, not just pause it for a while.
What does dual diagnosis care look like? A typical treatment plan might include a mix of different approaches:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Substance abuse is usually driven by a headspace running on autopilot. “I can’t handle this without using,” or “I’ve already messed up, might as well keep going.”
CBT helps you press pause. You learn to catch those automatic thoughts, challenge whether they’re actually accurate, and replace them with healthier responses before they turn into actions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
For many, drugs or alcohol is simply the easiest way to cope with overwhelming feelings. DBT gives you practical tools to replace that habit.
It teaches you how to sit through an intense emotional storm without spiraling, how to handle distress without running away, and how to choose a deliberate response rather than just reacting.
Individualized Therapy
This is dedicated, private time with a therapist who takes the time to understand your history, your specific triggers, and what your life actually looks like outside of care.
Without a room full of people listening, you have complete freedom to talk honestly, unpack what’s beneath the surface, and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Group Therapy
Addiction isolates people, convincing them that no one else could possibly understand what they’re going through. Group therapy puts clients in a room with people further along the same road or walking it right alongside them.
Family Therapy
Addiction never affects just one person; it impacts the whole household. It strains communication, wears down trust, and leaves everyone feeling exhausted.
Family sessions bring your loved ones into the healing process, helping repair broken relationships so home becomes a safe, supportive place for life post-treatment.
We Provide a Holistic Approach to Treatment
The body needs healing too, not just the mind. You can’t separate how you feel emotionally from how you feel physically.
When your body is constantly operating in fight-or-flight mode, staying present in therapy can feel almost impossible. We make sure your physical health gets the care it deserves through holistic therapies that promote real rest, physical strength, and daily balance.
From nutritious meals and movement to mindfulness and stress-reduction techniques, we integrate body-focused wellness directly into your care. When your body feels grounded and supported, doing the mental work of therapy gets a whole lot easier.
We Offer Specialized Care for Opioid Addiction
Ohio has been in the epicenter of the opioid epidemic for decades, and Gahanna hasn’t been spared from it either.
Withdrawal from opioids is a different animal. The physical intensity alone is enough to send people back to using just to make it stop. That’s exactly why medical detox matters so much here.
Our medical team is trained specifically to manage opioid withdrawal safely, easing the physical symptoms so a client’s energy goes toward recovery instead of just getting through the next hour.
We also recognize that opioid addiction often intersects with legal, financial, and family pressures. Our case managers work the practical side of that mess while clinicians handle the treatment, because recovery gets a lot harder when the rest of a person’s life is falling apart at the same time.
We’re Accredited by the Joint Commission
When you’re researching treatment centers, credentials matter more than glossy photos. Recreate Behavioral Health of Ohio holds Joint Commission accreditation, often referred to as the “gold seal” of approval in healthcare.
This isn’t a rubber stamp. Facilities have to meet rigorous standards for patient safety, clinical quality, and organizational performance, and those standards get reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Why does that matter to you or your loved one? Because it means the promises we make about safety and quality aren’t just marketing language. They’re independently verified.
Add in our licensing through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and you get a facility held accountable from multiple directions at once.
We’re Backed by the Recreate Behavioral Health Network
It’s worth repeating: Recreate Ohio doesn’t operate in isolation. As a satellite location within the larger Recreate Behavioral Health Network, our Gahanna facility benefits from shared clinical resources, established best practices, and a leadership team with a track record across multiple states.
If you’ve researched RBHN’s other locations in Florida, New Jersey, or New York, you already know the standard we’re built to match.
Is Recreate Ohio Right for You or Your Loved One?
Maybe you’re reading this for yourself. Maybe you’re a parent, a spouse, or a friend trying to figure out how to help someone you love. Either way, the questions probably feel familiar: Will this actually work? Is it safe? Can we afford it? What happens after detox ends?
Here’s what we can tell you honestly: Recovery isn’t a single event. It’s a process, and it looks different for everyone.
Some clients need medical detox and inpatient rehab for weeks. Others come in already stable and benefit most from an IOP paired with ongoing group therapy. Our admissions team takes the time to figure out which path fits, rather than pushing everyone through the same program.
We also work with most major insurance providers, and our team can help verify your coverage before you commit to anything. Cost shouldn’t be the reason you can’t get professional substance use disorder treatment.
Take the First Step Today
Nobody wakes up excited to call a treatment center. That first phone call is almost always the hardest part, and that’s okay. You don’t have to have all the answers before you dial the number. Our admissions coordinators are trained to answer all your questions and walk through next steps at whatever pace feels manageable.
So, what would it feel like to finally make that call? For a lot of people, it’s relief from having someone else carry part of the weight. Recreate Behavioral Health of Ohio is here for that moment, whenever you’re ready for it.
Change doesn’t happen by accident, but it can start with one conversation. So call us and let’s talk through how we can help.
